Mindful Owl Adventures introduces simple, science-based mindfulness techniques that children can use every day. Through Mindful Owl, children and grown-ups explore playful, empowering ways to manage emotions, build resilience, and move through life with kindness, calm, and confidence.

The Story Behind the Story

​

Inspired by a real owl who visited our backyard when my daughter was born, this book began as a bedtime story shared with my children. 

 

Over time, it grew—shaped by our family’s experiences, challenges, and the calming tools we turned to for presence, peace, and clarity. Later, while working in classrooms, I saw firsthand that even young children—kindergartners—were feeling stress and anxiety. They needed gentle, accessible ways to calm their minds and bodies. That’s when I knew: the Owl should become a Mindful Owl.

 

What started as a story became something more—a trusted guide to help children, families, and educators connect more deeply with themselves and each other.

​

What’s Inside the Book

Children will learn how to:

  • Take calming belly breaths to calm and focus and manage big emotions

  • Build meaningful connections through kindness and love

  • Use visualization and affirmations to feel safe and confident

  • Embrace differences, resolve conflict, and strengthen friendships

Blending the award-winning story and science, the reader participation book invites children to join siblings Alexa and Chester on an enchanting journey guided by Mindful Owl as the meet new animal friends.

Understanding the Editions:

​

 1st Edition -  Written intuitively and straight from the heart, the original edition introduced the story and core mindfulness lessons through sweet rhyming storytelling. It was self-published and printed on demand.

​

 2nd Edition - Same story and book with a different design and subtitle. This version deepened the focus on friendship, emotion regulation and self-awareness. Self published but gained a distributor to reach more families and schools.

​

 3rd Expanded Edition (Current) -The most comprehensive version yet! Includes the same award-winning story, plus 8 new pages:

  • A step-by-step mindfulness guide with real-world applications.

  • New insights that connect the story to neuroscience and psychology.
